The Government has tendered tarmacking of Kibiko-Kimuka-Suswa road and the gravelling has already started in earnest.
Kajiado West legislator, Moses Sakuda commissioned the start of work on the 70 km road recently.
Tenders for the tarmacking of the road, Sakuda said, were expected to be opened at the Ministry of Roads headquarters.
This will be the first bitumen road to be undertaken by the National Government in the western region of the County since independence.
Once Kibiko-Kimuka-Suswa road is completed, motorists will have a shorter access to Narok County from Kajiado.
Currently, most motorists travelling to Narok County access that region through Nairobi to Mai-Mahiu in Nakuru County.
The stretch between Kimuka and Kibiko has been hectic to motorists because of its terrible condition.
Residents living along the road celebrated the start of the construction.
