SGR: Residents in compensation appeal to Uhuru, Lenku

By Our Reporter

Residents of Kangawa village in Ngong area, where an SGR station is being constructed, have vowed to block all on-going work until they get their compensation.
They have appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Governor Joseph ole Lenku to intervene claiming they are suffering.
“We were promised payment after two weeks but we received nothing. We had even committed ourselves to other parcels of land. We don’t know what to do as we have not received our money,” said Francis Njenga a resident.
He claimed youth from the area have also been denied jobs despite the disruptions owing to construction work in the area that have negatively affected their businesses.
The residents’ water supply has also been cut off and they have to use longer routes as roads have been damaged.
They recently held a demonstration at the station site where they accused local leaders of abandoning them.
