Seven boxers will represent Kajiado County in National Novices Boxing Championships this week, after winning in different categories on Saturday.
The boxers were from different clubs and have been training for the competitions, the contest was held in Maasai Mall grounds Ongata Rongai in a match that attracted hundreds of spectators.
The boxers who qualified are Paul Teeka (Light Fly Weight), Andrew Ohawa (Fly Weight), Bantamweight Kefa Kanali (Bantam weight), Francis Xadie (Light Weight), Linford Aima (Light Weight), Joseph Maingi ( (Welter ) and Abdul Rahmani ( Middle Weight)
Youth leader Moses Kamalik said the national event will be held on 6 – 8th February 2020 in Charter Hall, Nairobi County. He said boxers who were selected will embark vigorous training to emerge winners; he said celebrations will be held for the winners.

The Kajiado event was sponsored by well-wishers led by businessman Anthony Keen. Keen who was also the chief guest said he will look for more sponsorship to ensure the teams sharpen their skills for future competitions.
The businessman said he will also sponsor the winners in Nationals; he challenged boxers to maintain discipline during their trainings.

“Make boxing your career since it will take you places, you have talents that need to be sharpened, we have many youth out here who are not making use of their talents,” he said. The businessman will also sponsor music competition in the region.
He challenged the youth not to be used by politicians to cause chaos during campaign periods and stand for their rights.
Most of the boxers use their savings to train and participate in competitions. Former international boxer Isaiah Ikhoni who coordinated the event said is ready to support more boxers to participate in boxing international championships.
The event was also attended by opinion leaders Ndiba wa Wanjiku ,Abdi Hassan and Nkaimurunya MCA James Waisha who said the county government will put up a social hall in the ward to be used for trainings.
