Joy greeted members of Imbuko Group Ranch after 400 households were issued with new generation allotment letters for their plots at the local trading Centre.
The County Government of Kajiado processed the land documents to enable families develop the Embuko Trading Centre in Poka Kenyawa Ward, Kajiado East.
Governor Joseph Ole Lenku issued the letters to a joyous crowd as local leaders lauded the move saying it will help develop the trading centre into a commercial hub along the busy Emali-Oloitokitok road.
” I will strive to ensure Kajiado residents get the right documents for their land to enable them benefit fully from this resource,” said Governor Lenku.
The Governor announced that the security features on the allotment letters had been accepted by local commercial banks.
“Two years ago, we engaged the banks and after review of the unique features, they reached the threshold to stand as security for bank loans, ” he added.
Imbuko becomes the latest trading centre to have genuine allotment letters in a new strategy by the County’s land department to clean up the mess created by cartels that were illegally selling land.
“I urge members of the local community to take care of their documents and use them to improve their livelihoods. Careless sale of land can only bring misery to families, ” said the Governor.
In two years, the County Government has issued more than 12,000 new generation allotment letters in 25 trading centres to curb unregulated land sale that also defrauded investors.
