Pistol recovered four arrested in connection with Rongai robbery

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the Kandisi, Ongata Rongai home break-in that was captured on CCTV on Sunday morning.

According to National Police Service (NPS) spokesman Bruno Shioso, the four suspects are currently helping the police with investigations.


One 24 year old Robert Kimani Irungu was arrested in Kware slum in Rongai on Wednesday with a pistol, household items and the other two were arrested on Tuesday in Kasarani after withdrawing Sh240,000 from a Mpesa shop money that had been transferred from the victim’s account.They are Jane Achieng from Kibera, John Ochieng from Kibera . The fourth suspect is an Mpesa attendant from Kasarani.

“The Inspector General has instructed a crackdown within the areas and environs of Rongai targeting organized criminal gangs terrorizing and robbing law-abiding citizens,” he stated.


The AK47 rifle-wielding criminals were captured on CCTV as they attacked the woman who was driving into her residence at 2am.


Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai visited the area and promised that the culprits will be brought to book.


He directed all bars, wine and spirits joints to be controlled and those operating between Kandisi and Rimpa stage to be closed since the region is purely residential area hosting various senior government officials.


The CS promised the start with immediate effect construction of Kandisi police post infrastructure and possible upgrade of the post to a police station.
A kandisi resident said similar cases have been reported. She said they had about five cases in the area, in once cases the criminals stole a motor vehicle and was recovered at Ole kasasi area.
