Pyramid Auctioneers seized items from the supermarket and will be sold by public action, unless the stated amount claimed by creditors plus auctioneers charges is paid.

A visit to the supermarket revealed that it is still closed with few items on stock.

The branch was opened in 2012 to tap on the fast growing population in the town.

This is not the first time Uchumi Supermarket is raided for rent arrears, on April this year its branch in Mombasa was closed after the landlord evicted the retailer over a Sh12 million rent debt

In February, the retailer closed its Sarit Centre branch after more than 30 years in operation. Uchumi has so far seen 24 of its branches closed across the country.
