One person died with several others admitted in Rongai hospitals in outbreak of cholera in Kajiado North Sub County.
Ongata Rongai hospital had set up isolation ward to isolate patients suffering from the infectious disease,several patients who had contracted the disease have been treated had discharged.
Kajiado North sub county administrator Solomon Kereku during a budget forum in Nkaimurunya Ward urged residents to be careful on meals they are taking, the sub county health department had banned hawking of food stuff in the region, the deceased used to hawk food around Rongai’s Tuskys Supermarket.
Nkaimurunya Ward health officer Amos Parsanka said the county will hold meetings in the ward on Friday to sensitize the public,he said they have prevented spread of the dangerous disease.
The outbreak of the disease is due to lack of water in the sub county for three weeks now after Kenya Power disconnected electricity to Oloolaiser Water Company.
In a statement on Wednesday Nkaimurunya Ward Representative James Waishanguru said the county government through water CECM Michael Semera had negotiated with the power company to reconnect electricity after making down payments, it is demanding more than Sh 17 Million unpaid electricity bills.
By the time of going to press residents who receive water from Kiserian dam are yet to be supplied with water due to breakdown of a pump,the company is planning to install it on Thursday night to start supplying.
