Trans Mara branch KNUT Executive Secretary Willy Korir has accused Teacher Service Commission of working to silence the union from fighting for teachers’ rights.
He said the Commission should stop issuing threats to their union leaders, noting that deregistration of the KNUT General Secretary Wilson Sossion was malicious.
“We are tired of being tossed from one end to another by our employer, who is supposed to guide and safeguard our welfare,” he said.
He appealed to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. George Magoha to iron the working relationship between the teachers and TSC for the benefit of the child of this country.
He called for the disbandment of the commission saying it has failed on its mandate.
“Teachers need to be listened to in order for this country to achieve its development agenda,” he said.
He claimed TSC is out to frustrate teachers instead of safeguarding on their rights.
He urged the government to honour the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
