Muungano Women Group gets Sh0.3m Affirmative Action cash

Ongata Rongai Muungano Women Group has been given a total of Sh300,000 Affirmative Action Fund cash to complete construction oftheir four storey building. The women group received the funds from Woman Representative, Mary Seneta’s office during its latest meeting in Rongai. Ann Ayuma who represented Ms Seneta, said Kajiado Woman Representative has ensured that women groups will be given priority during allocation of the funds. The officer said the Woman Representative received a total of Sh 4 million for Kajiado North Sub County and she was able to distribute it equally to deserving groups. Dairy receiving Sh2 million to buy a machine for milk processing. The women’s group chair, Ruth Wakapa, said the group has received a lot of support from,the Woman Representative. She, however, said the group still needsmore money to complete construction of the house.

Wakapa, a former councilor, called on the women to elect politicians who have supported them in constructing the building. Ongata Rongai Ward aspirant, Margret Mbote who is also a member of the group, urged the women to elect one of them to take MCA position. The aspirant is the only woman running for the MCA seat in the ward.
