Nkaimurunya MCA James Waisha has condemned alleged harassment of business people by Kajiado County enforcement officers.
The MCA said the officers in Rongai allegedly harass business people when demanding licences.
He said the officers should use effective means when demanding payment of taxes and also urged business people to also pay tax on time to prevent such confrontations.
Speaking during Muungano Women function in Rongai attended by Governor Joseph ole Lenku, Waisha urged the Governor to stop the officers from harassing people.
“Business people are ready to pay tax but the collection should be done in a proper manner,” he noted.
In a video which has gone viral on social media, the officers were reportedly seen harassing workers of a Rongai-based Non-Governmental Organisation.
A worker had reportedly accused the officers of beating him after he questioned them why they are not contacting the organisation’s managers to ask for licenses rather than harassing junior staff.
