Deputy President William Ruto has said the National Government is still planning for expansion of Magadi road.
The DP who attended Dominion Chapel Ministries International church fundraising, Kiserian at the weekend said the government is focused on ensuring that it implements manifesto promises made to locals.
He said the government had identified a contractor to expand the road into dual carriageway. He noted that they are doing documentations and will launch it in six months’ time.
“We have identified the partner through public private partnership, we have only remained with some few issues that will take three to six months,” noted Ruto.
Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) had announced upgrading of the road into a dual carriageway in June this year during stakeholders meeting, they had indicated that tarmacking was to begin end of November,2019.
The section to be expanded includes the ever busy 22.65- Kilometre Bomas-Kiserian-Corner Baridi stretch.The road passes through Ongata Rongai and Kiserian towns.
Stanley Mwawasi Project Manager and engineer at KeNHA had said the contractor will limit himself to the space available, no building will be pulled down and no land acquisition will be done.
The expansion of the road will ease traffic between the capital city and Kajiado county. The tarmacking of Gataka road in Kajiado North Constituency is also ongoing.
