Kenya Power has again disconnected electricity supply to Oloolaiser Water and Sewerage Company Limited (OWSC) after failing to honor debt settlement agreement.
The power company is demanding more than Sh 18 million from the firm, last month it had again disconnected electricity supply, its customers in Kajiado North Sub County had to go without water for three weeks. This is the third time this year the power company is disconnecting electricity to the water firm.
Last week the water company purchased two new water pumps to replace one that had broken down and failed to function after repair, Kajiado County CECM Water and Irrigation Michael Semera supervised the pumps installation in Kiserian dam.
The CECM had claimed that they had negotiated with the power company to reconnect electricity after making down payments.According to sources the county government is yet to pay Sh 2 Million it had promised the power company,the water company had only paid Sh 700,000. KPLC manager in-charge of Ongata Rongai James Njuguna said the company owes them many but he did not disclose the amount, he said is not permitted to share the information.
During the installation of the pumps the company manager Dickson Ntikoisa had apologized to customers saying they were working on the payment of all accumulated electricity bills. He said he was working to clean the mess created by the past regime.
“On behalf of Oloolaiser Water & Sewerage Company and the County Government of Kajiado, my apology to our esteemed consumers for the lack of this essential service for more than three weeks,” he said. When contacted on Thursday the MD said he was busy in meetings to solve the issues.
