Five groups from Kajiado North Constituency have benefited from carwash machine and salon equipment from the office women representative.
Kajiado County Women Representative Leah Sankaire who awarded the groups the equipment said three groups received carwash equipment while two received salon equipment.
The women representative said many youths with skills have no capital to start their own businesses, the groups will now put their skills to work since they have the equipment.
` We are targeting many youths from the entire county, I will empower youths to support their families, this will improve economy of the country, ‘ she said.
She said awarding of the youths the equipment was part of her manifesto. The groups will be monitored to ensure the equipment are used for the right purposes.
The Women Representative had also supported 60 youths through skill development program, the youths were enrolled in Kajiado West Technical and Vocational College
Oloosurutia Blessed Sisters group member Sarah Nyokabi whose group received salon equipment said they have been trained but they have been seeking for equipment to open their businesses.
At the same time Olkeri MCA Stephen Ngatho distributed bursary amount to sh 1 million to students in the ward.
The MCA said more than 200 students who are vulnerable have benefited and more than 500 will also benefit noting that students must also perform to motivate those who award them support.
The two leaders also launched a Free WIFI in Matasia market, youth were challenged to use the internet in the right way such as marketing their products.
