Kajiado North chief dies of Covid-19 complications

Covid-19 virus continues to wreak havoc in Kajiado County with the latest victim being Assistant chief scheme six, Kajiado north Olekasasi location Lucy Kamau who passed away on Tuesday.

The deceased who had been in ICU for a month succumbed in Belleview Hospital in Nairobi County.

Aida Nailantei Nchoe,35, county government staffer also died from Covid-19 complications last week and was laid to rest on Saturday.

The mother of two left many in shock. She was expecting a third born child and had held a baby shower.

Reports show an alarming surge in infections and deaths in the county with residents throwing caution to the wind and few follow Covid-19 guidelines.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health reported that Kajiado County was the third county with most positivity cases at 66 positive cases.

A total of 1,166 people tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 9,924 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now 11.8%. Total confirmed positive cases are now 230,794 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,326,598.  

The ministry indicated that 36 patients succumbed to the disease, one in the last 24 hours and others from late audit.

The government continues to vaccinate residents in several health centres to curb spread of the virus.
