Kajiado County Anti-Gender Based Violence peaceful demonstrations

Every year thousands of women and girls are victims of violence inflicted by a partner, ex-partner or community member. Last year Kajiado County registered many victims of violence majority of them being women and girls. The violence experienced include; physical injuries, rape, defilement, domestic violence, FGM, early marriages and denial of property including death.

Forum for Women in development, Democracy and Justice (FODDAJ) through the generous support of The International Rescue Committee and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against women supported 11 women and men led organizations drawn from The Kajiado Watch CSO Network. The network members covered in all the 5 Sub Counties of Kajiado County by holding joint outreaches and public actions to sensitize communities and call on policy makers to act on and implement

the policies that prevent violence against women and girls. A total of 6,582 community members were reached and 12 Institutions including secondary and primary schools; local administrations including

Sub-County Commissioners, chiefs, The Kenya Police, faith-based organizations and other community groups took part in the activity. The organizations that were supported to undertake collective actions in their communities included;

6. Omega Winners Initiative – Led by Caroline Letuiya (Kajiado East)

7. Survivors Mentors organization – Led

8. Cannanites Youth Group – Led by Jackson Mepukori (Kajiado South)

9. Odupoi CBO – Led by Caleb Lemaiyan
