The first phase of building Economic Stimulus Program (ESP) Markets across the Country has commenced the government has announced.
Ministry of Lands, Public works, Housing and Urban Development has advertised tenders for construction of the 72 markets, the tendering process will be closed on 16th August 2023.
The ministry stated that the govt remains committed to dignifying traders, mama mbogas among others by providing a decent place for them to carry out their hustle.
Kajiado County will get three markets which will be constructed in Namanga (Kajiado Central), Isinet(Kajiado South) and Ongata Rongai (Kajiado North). In Narok the govt will construct markets in Kilgoris, Suswa (Narok East),Ntulele(North),Ewaso nyiro(South) and Ololunga (South).
Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo said the he had engaged top officials from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development four days ago and agreed for upgrading of Ongata Rongai market, he said the exercise will begin in a monthโs time.
