The County Commissioner for Narok Evans Achoki and the CECM for Education, youth and Gender and the Director for the State Department of Gender Agnes Ngeno held a consultative meeting at Zebu hotel and luxury lodge on training of women on gender-based violence.
The meeting was supported by Centre for Rights, Education and Awareness (CREW) where the key stakeholders who leads various groups gave reports on gender based violence against women in Maasai land.
Achoki noted that Narok County has been known for prevalence of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and called for end of the practice.
He said that President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a directive that FGM has to end by 2022.
