DP Ruto donate land to MCA’s daughter,businessman demands SGR Compensation

Deputy President William Ruto will donate land to Madeline Kisama daughter to former Uasin Gishu County late MCA Rose Kisama.

The Deputy President who attended the MCA’s funeral on Tuesday in Kibiko, Kajiado West Constituency said the late was a peace ambassador who has played a major role in uniting the country after post-election violence and her family should be taken care of.

Dr Ruto said he will support Kisama’s daughter by ensuring she has a home and a good job.

The late politician had started working in the speaker of the Senate office before her demise,  speaker Ken Lusaka said  Madeline will be given the position her mother used to hold and will get same remuneration.

Rose, who  died of  heart attack  at 54, she was born in Ngong but moved to Eldoret,she was a peace and reconciliation ambassador in Uasin Gishu after 2007/8 post-election violence and in 2017 gubernatorial politics of Uasin Gishu County between Governor Jackson Mandago and his rival businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki.

Mandago who attended funeral said the late helped him in uniting Kikuyus and Kalenjins in 2017 and ensured he got support from the two tribes.

During the ceremony businessman Samuel Wanjuguna caused drama when he demanded for compensation of people who have been affected by Standard Gauge Railway Nairobi Naivasha route, he took time to introduce his family and handing over documents to the DP against protocol. DP aide efforts to cut short his speech fall on deaf ears they had to switch off sound system but the businessman angrily continued talking without microphone.

Wanjuguna took more time than the DP himself to explain how land owners have been suffering under the SGR, he had allowed the late MCA’s family to conduct the funeral service on his land with exchange of allowing him to speak during the service. The Ngong SGR tunnel which is 7.41km second longest railway tunnel in Africa passes through his land.

The National Land Commission (NLC) compulsorily acquired five acres for the construction of the tunnel. The businessman said the government owes him more than Sh78 million in compensation. His property was also destroyed during the construction of the tunnel.

He told the DP the Chinese contractors have destroyed the environment in the area and the government has failed to pay him.

Wanjuguna and former Kajiado County Senator Peter Mositet had petitioned the Senate on the matter last year, the Environment Senate Committee visited the affected families and Wanjuguna openly differed with them for responding late and the way they were handling the situation causing a commotion during the visit.

Kajiado Member of Parliament George Sunkuyia said many people have been affected by SGR and called on the DP to intervene by ensuring they are paid. The DP said the governments will ensure all those who were affected are compensated. The service was attended by Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, MPs Moses Kuria, Oscar Sudi ,Ken Aramat Parliamentary Service Commission vice chair Naomi Shaban among other dignitaries.
