Kajiado County Government has been challenged to create a good environment to attract investors who will create job opportunities in the county.
Sigma Feeds Director Kirtesh Shah said there should be partnership between private investors and the County Government to boost development.
“The County Government should call for a meeting of investors as the county cannot achieve much without recognising industry players,” he said.
Speaking in Kiserian during a dairy farmers’ meeting after launch of Kajiado Tradairy Co-operative Society Limited (KTCSL), the investor said he is ready to partner with the county to open a milk processing plant that will ensure availability of milk in the county at cheaper prices.
The investor transports his milk to Nairobi industries for manufacture of yogurt due to lack of business conducive environment in Kajiado County.
The County consumes 10,000 to 15,000 liters per day; most of the milk is from other counties, Shah said, adding that residents should be empowered by supporting them to visit leading local industries for benchmarking than spending a lot money for trips outside the country.
Kajiado County Woman Representative Janet Teiyaa said she is ready to empower women to venture into modern farming.
