Athi Water drill borehole for Keekonyokie residents

Borehole drilling in Naromoru Keekonyokie Ward,Kajiado County

Keekonyokie Ward residents in Kajiado West Sub County,   water have reason to smile after Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) through Oloolaiser Water and Sewerage Company resolved to drill a borehole in for them at Naromoru.

The drilling started after residents complained to the national and county government of failing to ensure they benefit from Kiserian dam water.

The water is not supplied to the community that surrounds the dam, but benefits Kajiado North sub county residents. Naromoru/Madaraka community had complained to the after a 14-year-old boy drowned in the dam.

Ward representative Moses Saoyo said the borehole will serve Naromoru hospital and local residents.

Saoyo said he had proposed the project to serve the community since they have been neglected for long.

He said the county government will also continue with construction of the hospital earlier stalled, leading to protests  by residents had claimed Governor Joseph ole Lenku had diverted the project to Kiserian because he allegedly was not in good terms with the area MCA.

The county executive had denied that they had suspended the project, maintain that it was to continue and they had funded the Kiserian one separately.
