Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has said the Party has not nominated Politician Elizabeth Jebet Kibor to replace Sandra Mario at Kajiado County Assembly in marginalised ODM position.
In a letter seen by County Press addressed to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Kajiado County Assembly speaker Sifuna said the party has not convened any meeting to give an order on the nomination matter.
“ It is also instructive to note that the mandate of the party’s NEC subcommittee on party’s list chaired by Ogla Karani expired as it was limited to nominations of 2017 and any other process thereafter was to be handled by the party’s central committee,” part of the letter read.
He said the party is in the process of submitting a fresh list as ordered by the high court.
According to sources some party officials had presented Kibor’s name for gazettement with others opposing, this has created division in the party.
Kibor was gazetted by IEBC in a gazette notice dated April 18, 2019.
This is after Sandra withdrew her appeal on 7th March 2019, she had lost in judgment of the High Court of Kajiado last year.
Kibor had petitioned the nomination of the MCA, she lost in Magistrate’s court but appealed in High Court,Judge Reuben Nyakundi overturned the ruling of the lower court ordering fresh nomination.
The politician vied for MCA position in Nkaimurunya Ward which she lost in nominations, she said justice has been served and she has been lawfully nominated.
County Assembly Speaker, Johnson Osoi said he has received the gazette notice and will swear in the new nominee as recommended by the law.
