Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has been elected Chairperson of the Council of Governors with Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi taking Vice Chairperson position.
Waiguru of Kenya Kwanza beat governor Joseph ole Lenku of Azimio to win the position.
They were elected during governors’ inaugural summit in Mombasa which ended today and was officially closed by National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula representing President William Ruto.
In the meeting, a wide range of issues touching on intergovernmental relations between the national and county governments were discussed.
Narok County Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu was elected chairperson of Tourism and Wildlife Committee.
He promised to work with his committee in improving standards in the tourism sector.
He also said that the wildlife sector will be protected through forest conservation this will keep wildlife safe.
