Two suspected thugs were on Wednesday shot dead by police during a botched robbery in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado North Sub County.
The two had gained entry to a building rented by Nigerians in Ole sakuda road and ordered the occupants to surrender their items before they were cornered.
According to a resident who sought anonymity one of the occupants who heard commotion in the house informed police who arrived on time.
The witness said one suspect managed to escape but two were gunned down, the gang was armed with crude weapons.
“They are young boys, we suspect they are underage, we do not know them,” he said.
A resident Jane Mose said cases of thugs stealing from shops during curfew hours have been reported in the area.
Area Chief Susan Nzue said quick response by police is because of good coordination with the community, she said the deceased are yet to be identified since they had no identity cards.
Nzue said cases of armed robbery have drastically reduced after the National Government introduced National Hygiene Programme (NHP), dubbed Kazi Mtaani which has seen many youth get recruited earning Sh 455 daily wage.
