A man suspected to be behind the murder of four youths in Kitengela, Kajiado County will be detained at Kitengela Police Station for ten more working days to allow detectives to complete their investigations.
The suspect, Benson Melonye Ole Mungai, 40, was arraigned before Magistrate Becky Cheloti at Kajiado Law Courts on Tuesday.
He was arrested on Monday by detectives in Kitengela town, where detectives said he was hiding after the killings.
According to police reports Ole Mungai was positively linked to the brutal killings after forensic investigations placed him at the scene of the crime, where it was established that he led and co-ordinated the killing of the four in Enkamulyat area, some 14km from Kitengela town.
Isinya sub-county police commander Charles Chepkong’a said detectives have key leads that will lead to the arrest of other suspects in connection with the killings.
Victor Mwangi who was celebrating his 25th birthday, his brother Fred Mureithi, 30, and their two cousins Nicholas Musa, 28 and Mike George, 29, were brutally murdered on Sunday August 13, after allegedly being mistaken for cattle thieves. The four were riding three motorcycles and they had gone out to buy food.
