SGR lauded for quick growth of Kibiku, Kimuka centres

The phase 2A of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) that passes through counties of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Nakuru and Narok has come about with a lot of developments that are set to benefit the residents who live in these areas.

The ongoing expansion of Kibiku-Kimuka road is one of the many projects that the residents are set to benefit from.

‘’People are really waiting for the completion of this road so that transport services can be easily accessed,’’ Margaret Wanjiru, a resident said.

Residents of Kibiku area are happy to see that the road is under construction, she said.

The firm building the railway line detected clean water oozing  from a site in Kimuka, Ngong at the rate of 1,700 cubic meters per hour. The spring is now  supplies clean water residents of Kajiado West. However, the residents of Kibiko and Ngong claim that are not benefiting from the water.

“The water that has not been distributed to Kibiku residents,” said Mary Mungai, a resident.

“Land prices have now increased and people are buying land in the area more often. An eighth of an acre in Kibiku before the SGR used to be sold at around Sh. 500,000, but now after the SGR the prices have  shot up to around Sh1.2 million,’’ said  land broker David Githii.

Many residential houses and entertainment places are now coming up and Kibiku area is one of the areas one should watch out for, he added.

“ Before the coming of the SGR project,  this area was not growing but now we are aspiring to see our businesses grow because many people will be using the Kibiku-Kimuka road when it is completed,’’ stated Ruth Nyaboke

“Small-scale businesses are now coming up along Ngong-Kimuka road and residents of this area are now benefiting a lot,” she added.

The SGR has real brought about a lot of developments not only to the people of Kibiku-Kimuka area but also those who live near the SGR stations.
