Reduce waiting period for ID cards, Metito appeals

By Isaac Lenkou

Kajiado South Member of Parliament, Katoo ole Metito has called on the Ministry of Interior which is in charge of issuing of national identity cards to reduce the long period taken by new applicants in getting the document to less than a month.

The MP, who was addressing a public baraza in his constituency of Kajiado South Sub County, requested clerks in the Registration of Persons section to ensure they correctly indicate the places of origin of applicants by showing the correct locations and divisions for applicants who are applying for the identity cards for the first time and even those who are re-applying.

The legislator and other leaders also challenged elderly people who may have lost their identity cards to go to the nearest chief’s office to be assisted to get replacements.

Metito urged incumbents and aspirants eyeing various elective posts on Jubilee Party ticket to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner without intimidating their opponents
