If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, certainly it is a duck. The hullabaloo on whether leaders are born or nurtured has been with us for a long time.
. A real leader creates more leaders while a leader wannabe creates a mammoth of followers. Not that the real leaders do not exist but they have chosen to stay ‘clean’, after all who loves dirt?
This has left a big vacuum for farcical and scoundrel imposters to rise to the occasion. The hefty packages, privileges and powers whet their appetite to be that incumbent by hook or by crook. They have mastered the art of deception and manipulation and we have okayed it by being divided. During crisis ‘we are one” but afterwards, it is ‘every woman, man for her or himself God for us all. Who burnt the bridges?
We have permitted to be used as doormats, puppets, and staircases/elevators, yet we are the boss. The boss calls the shots. But what if the boss has given a job with no job descriptions and no follow-up on underperformers? We have guzzled our national/county development coffers in the clubs and bars as we are wooed on where to cast our votes.
There are those leaders who are ‘trying’ but still their empire is engulfed by storms.
Then there are those who boycott the elections and deny themselves their democratic right of choosing their leaders and power of holding them accountable.
