Osoi to lead county assemblies BBI scrutiny team

The County Assemblies Forum, an umbrella body of all assemblies has picked a 13 member team to scrutinize and analyse the BBI report.

The team is then expected to give the direction so that all the 47 County Assemblies can have a common position on the report.

Kajiado County Assembly Speaker Johnson Osoi will lead the task force that will work on behalf of the 47 County Assemblies.

He was appointed following a consultative meeting by the County Assemblies Forum held recently at White Sands Hotel in Mombasa.

They will ensure that gains on devolution are protected. The taskforce will also look for solutions on challenges that affect the devolved units.

Increment of County Revenue Allocation, formation of County Assembly Fund, adoption of the Ward Development Fund and the Health Service Commission are some of the key areas of concerned on their list. Osoi added that the ad-hoc Committee will finally hand over the report to County Assemblies Forum Executive Committee, which will in then disseminate it to all the 47 County Assemblies.

Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku was also appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to spearhead the BBI as the South Rift region chairperson.
