The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Board of Directors has appointed a new Director General to replace Francis Meja who has completed his full term contract.
The board in a press statement on Tuesday announced George Njao as the new director on a three year term. Njao holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University, USA, he has over 15 years experience in transport sector.
Acting Board Chairperson Dr. Alice Chesire commended the outgoing director Mr. Meja, for providing seamless and efficient services to the public.
She said he was behind employment of latest technology in service delivery and consolidated the Authority’s services on one online platform known as the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS).
“The Board acknowledges his efforts in restoring sanity on the roads through development of rules and regulations that have greatly shaped the operation of the public transport sector in Kenya,” the statement read. Meja hails from Ewaso Kedong in Kajiado West Constituency.
Others who were appointed to the NTSA management are namely: Badu Katelo (Director Road Safety), Christopher Wanjau (Director Registration and Licensing), and Shalakha Shem (Deputy Director Supply Chain Management.)
