Nando Enterit FC from Kitengela are this year’s Maisha County League champions after beating Kibo FC from Loitokitok.
After a barren draw in a jammed stadium in Kitengela town, the two teams were forced into penalties to determine the winner when Nando got the opportunity to dampen Kibo’s hopes by scoring 2 -1.
The two teams put up a spirited fight in the first half and Kibo appeared superior after making several attempts at their opponent’s goal.
Kibo’s attempts to score were nipped in the bud by Nando players, who kept tight defence. They played defensive game the entire 45 minutes of the first half.
In the second half, Nando FC players appeared more charged by their attempts to score even a single ball but were thwarted by the fast-running Kibo players.
Kibo conceded defeat after losing to Nando 2-1 in the penalties.
In attendance were FKF Central Rift Chairman, Kennedy Ruto, Kajiado County FKF secretary, Nathaniel Tipash and Kibo Safari Camp Manager, Ben Kimeu.
Kimeu thanked his players for displaying professional and mature game.
“This will now give us another opportunity to practice hard and return to the league next year. My boys played well despite a few hitches here,” said Kimeu.
Tipash said Nando Enterit FC will now represent Kajiado in regional competition to start soon in Central Rift.
Ruto was upbeat that Kajiado has many talented players and said his office will work closely with all the local teams under FKF to promote soccer in the region.
