The Thursday nominations will see a major battle between two sitting MPs Katoo ole Metito (Kajiado South) and Peris Tobiko (Kajiado East Constituency).

Other aspirants in the race are Dr Rachel Gitonga and Francis Meja who are struggling to draw a crowd.

Most analysts in the region now consider Katoo the frontrunner, he has been a member of parliament for four terms, launched his campaign in UDA Party earlier than Tobiko and seems to have benefited a lot form Jubilee to UDA defection.

In Kajiado North, a constituency that has majority voters, he has support of four elected MCAs out of five, Peris has no support of any elected leader from the region.

In Kajiado East where she has been an MP for two terms Tobiko has lost some of her confidants including Olosirkon MCA Francis Kaesha (ODM), most MCAs from the region are in Azimio la Umoja Coalition. She had however received support of nominated MCA Yvonne Tonkei, Katoo has the support of Leah Sankaire (UDA women representative aspirant) a former Chief of Protocol in Lenku’s administration.

In Kajiado South flamboyant politician MP aspirant Elijah Keen Naini aka Bazuu who had decamped Katoo’s camp returned back promising to throw his weight behind his MP(Katoo).
