The Ministry of Health has announced that it will carry out National Polio Vaccination Campaign for children under age five and below.
In a notice the ministry indicated that the vaccination which will be carried out around the country will run from Saturday 22nd May to Wednesday 26th May 2021.Officers will visit homes to vaccinate children.
Polio vaccination is a life-saving intervention because it helps prevent devastating conditions like polio.
In the majority of cases Polio is asymptomatic. Unvaccinated travellers, especially children, pregnant women, and those with a weakened immune system visiting areas with Polio outbreaks are at risk of getting infected.
