Kajiado County Governor Joseph ole Lenku has warned Kitengela lorries drivers for attacking reinforcement officers.

The three County Government Askaris were attacked by a cross section of lorry drivers and a few members of the public.

In a statement the governor said the lorry drivers attacked the Askaris as they tried to implement a directive to move the transporters from the Kitengela CBD along the busy Nairobi- Namanga Highway to a designated area in Yukos (Kwa Muhindi).

He said the Askaris were duly implementing a County Government directive that aims at creating a better business environment within the Kitengela CBD area.

Lenku said he has informed the authorities to ensure the attackers are brought to book and ordered all the transport lorries to move to the designated area in Yukos.

“I warn any person who resists or takes on our officers while on duty that the necessary force will be deployed against them,” Lenku said.

He warned that no one will be allowed to frustrate or stop government efforts to make Kitengela (or any other town), a better town for all of us to live in. The drivers were accused of causing congestion and disorder. Disorganized parking of transport lorries has affected mobility for both pedestrians and motorists and made trading activities in the area chaotic
