Residents of Milimani estate in Kitengela, have donated a motorcycle to a local police post to enhance security in the area and its environs.
The residents raised money to purchase the motorbike after crime cases involving home breaking and livestock theft increased in the area.
Police officers deployed in the nearby Milimani police post under Kitengela police station do not have means to respond to distress calls.
The residents, who are members of the Milimani Resident’s Community Policing group, contributed the money to purchase a motorcycle and also catered for license expenses.
They raised the money in six months and handed over the motorcycle to the police officers early this month.

The project coordinator Alex Wairachu emphasized
the importance of community policing services and the partnership that has
helped to boost security.
“We expect the police officers will use the motorcycle to intensify patrols
and respond to distress calls promptly because the community is committed to
work with them to enhance security, “ said Wairachu.
The community will be fueling the motorcycle as they fight to minimize
organized crime that is common in the middle class estate.
Kajiado East Sub County police Commander Kinyua Mugambi lauded the Initiative
and called for police-community partnership.
“We appreciate the positive gesture extended to our police officers at
Milimani Police Post. It is our responsibility now to enhance security within
our area of jurisdiction, “said Mugambi.
Kitengela Police Station has only one police land rover that serve the populous
town with two additional police posts.
