Kajiado County MCAs who are in support of speaker Johnson Osoi have claimed that the executive has sponsored 27 MCAs  to plan impeachment of the speaker.

Speaking with county press Keekonyokie MCA Moses Saoyo alleged that governor Joseph ole Lenku is behind the motion of impeachment. He said the majority leader Julius Moipai is leading the team in Naivasha.

Saoyo who is in Mombasa for a Parliamentary Commission Conference said is only pro Osoi MCAs who are in the coastal town.

“ We are 13 of us for the training in Mombasa the 27 are in Naivasha we will continue with the training up to Friday , if they want to impeach him let them bring it on we will deal with them,”  Saoyo said .He noted that they have no required  number to impeach the speaker.

The MCA said his role as an MCA is to oversight, legislate and to represent his constituents and was not elected to be a sycophant and puppet of the executive.

In a rejoinder Nkaimurunya Ward MCA James Waicha said is not aware of the impeachment, he said is in Central Kenya for a funeral and will only discuss the matter if the motion is brought in the assembly.

“I do not have information on what the speaker did but if they bring the motion we will debate it and impeach if gross misconduct accusations are brought up,” he said.

Nominated MCA Lucy Wachuka who is Lenku’s ally denied allegations that is in Naivasha planning for impeachment of the speaker, she maintained that she is in Mombasa and will attend the parliamentary meeting, the two opposing sides will discuss the impeachment issue in Mombasa.

The speaker trouble started when he boycotted governor’s scorecard event with a number of MCAs, in the assembly MCAs allied to Lenku walked out of the house; halting proceedings the MCAs claimed the speaker is partisan.

Nominated MCA Onesmus Ngogoyo had claimed Lenku was behind what is ongoing in the assembly, he alleged that the governor started to interfere with assembly matters after some MCAs failed to attend his scorecard event.

Those in support of the speaker had also planned to have Majority Leader Julius Moipai removed from office but the motion flopped. The house is expected to resume its sittings next week.
