Governor Lenku Holds Crisis Meeting With Oloolaiser Water Committee

Kajiado County Governor Joseph ole Lenku has held an internal meeting with troubled Oloolaiser Water and Sewerage Company caretaker committee.

The governor and the officials did not issue a statement on what was discussed during the Wednesday morning two hours meeting, a month ago the company workers had threatened to go on strike accusing the management of delaying payment of their salary for more than two months.

According to sources the company is facing financial challenges and was forced to get an overdraft from a bank to pay the workers; they were paid between 3rd July 13th July 2019.  Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has cut electricity to the company three times this year due to bills arrears with consumers forced to go without water, is not clear if the bills were cleared.

The governor had disbanded previous board after accusing its members of conspiring with external forces to disrupt free flow of water. He had also accused the members of misusing the company  money without giving the required services.

Ngong’s Municipality Board Chairman Architect Patrick Mugo is the chairman of the new caretaker committee.

Members are Solomon Kereku, Moses Meeli, Kakai Kiveu,Eunice Wangari Kamweru, David Kobaai and Elizabeth Sopiato. The company acting Managing Director Dickson Ntikoisa is the secretary.
