Drama ensued in Majengo estate of Narok town when local administrators raided a brewing den and poured tens of liters of Chang’aa.

The angry brewers and their customers engaged the local administrators who included; Narok town Assistant County Commissioner Abdul Galgalo Diba and two chiefs in running battles as the administrators were not accompanied by police officers.

The administrators however managed to pour 77 liters of Chang’aa amidst screams and threats from the notorious mob.

While addressing the media, the local ACC declared war on the illicit brewers saying the drinking has hiked the rate of poverty in the estate.

The ACC challenged the residents to be more vigilant and give information to the police or his office that will lead to the arrest of all illegal brewers in the area.

Diba decried that the brewers and their customers did not follow Covid-19 saying they risked their lives and that of their families as the area they lived was very unhygienic.

Residents who sought anonymity blamed the police over the illicit drinking den saying the police are bribed by brewers so as not to be arrested.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had banned sale of alcohol in restaurants and eateries for 30 days.

Uhuru said all bars will be closed indefinitely, adding that those that don’t adhere will have their licenses permanently revoked.
