August 9 Elections, Kajiado County Winners and Losers

Kajiado County is now in opposition and in government at the same time, this is after August 9th general elections.

ODM and UDA Parties are beneficiaries of the just concluded general election.

ODM Party managed to win governor’s position incumbent governor Joseph ole Lenku retained his seat, UDA Party bagged Senator and women representative positions. Former Kajiado employees Kanar Seki won senate position with Leah Sankaire winning women representative position.

In MP positions ODM Party managed to retain Kajiado Central MP position, won in Kajiado South and Kajiado East. UDA Party won in Kajiado North and Kajiado West constituencies.

Jubilee lost gubernatorial position to ODM, Senate to UDA, women rep to UDA, it also lost all MP positions North, West, South and East.

In MCA positions UDA bagged majority seats 13 out of the 25 elective positions. ODM won 12 seats with Wiper and Jubilee which are in Azimio getting two seats each.

Governor Lenku won a second term with 117,600 votes. His close competitor Katoo ole Metito (UDA) had 111,725 votes, David Nkedienye (Jubilee) had 75,337votes while independent candidate Kago Ambrose had 2661 votes.

Members of Parliament

In senate position Kanar Seki garnered 125,696 votes, Judith pareno (ODM) 99,943 votes and former Kajiado West MP Moses sakuda (Jubilee) 56,380 votes, Gideon Toimasi (wiper) had 8821 votes, Gitau Tilda (Usawa kwa Wote) 8267, Simon Peter Nkeri (TSP) in last position with 7474 votes.

In women representative Leah Sankaire (UDA) won with 122,764 votes, Jeniffer Moinkett (ODM) was second with 87,312 votes, simayiai Rakita (Jubilee) third with 45,555 votes and nominated MCA Lucy Wacuka(TSP)  25,584 votes, Josephine Tito (Wiper)13,507 votes, Jane Nampaso(KRP)6270 votes and Halima Shariff of independent 6064 votes.

In MP positions Kajiado Central Elijah Memusi  Kanchory defended his seat with 23,357 votes he was followed closely with Moses Birisha of Wiper Party who got 22,877 votes.

Anthony Kiroken (UDA) garnered 4,562 votes while Janet Sankale (The New Democrats) 256 and Racheal Nayeiyo (Independent) managed 136 votes.

Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi(ODM )

In Kajiado West Constituency George Sunkuyia of UDA retained his seat with 19176 votes Moses Parisionka Konana (ODM) was second with 19,065 votes. Jacob Gitau (PPK) had 12,274, Simel Joseph Mokinyo (Jubilee) 7,239, Shukuru Moses Parantai( DPK)349 and Tom Sironka Munge (Safina) had  99 votes.

MP Kajiado West George Sunkuyia (UDA)

In Kajiado East Constituency Kakuta Maimai (ODM) who has vied more than three times finally won the seat, he had 28,730 votes against Mary Seneta of UDA who had 20,047 votes.

The constituency had seven other candidates. Others included George King’ori (TSP) who garnered 8,551 votes, Marina Kelly (Jubilee) got 5,321 votes, David Parseina (Wiper) got 1,906 Samuel Maingi (CCK) 2,321, Vivian Sainapei (CPK) 231 and Douglas Keton(Indp) got 1,243 votes.

Kakuta Maimai(ODM)MP Kajiado East Constituency.

In Kajiado South Samuel Parashina(ODM) won the seat by garnering 18, 592 votes followed by Samuel Kutata (UDA) with 13, 632 votes. Jonathan Meijo of Chama Cha Kazi had 11, 295 while Nina Daniel Livondo of PNU had 4,076, John Parit Singaru of Jubilee got 988 votes and Shadrack Wenger of The Service Party had 822 votes.

Kajiado South MP Samuel Parashina(ODM)

In Kajiado North constituency nominated MCA Onesmus Ngogoyo was declared winner with 26,718 votes, George Yogo( ODM) had 11,657, Paul Kibathi ( PPK) 10,556,Paul Gichinga (KANU) 9,678, Parsimei Gitau( Jubilee) 9,209, Henry Mbote ( PNU) 3,908, Anita Soina( GTAP) 1,500, Anunda Myllene Bosibori Usawa Kwa Wote 980, Sankok Teeka (Indp) 750,  Martin Kimemia ( NARK Kenya) 740, Andrew Nyangwansa (Indp) 520, Senteu Ole Lekina (Indp) 352, Karen Wambui  TSP  321,  Prof Lucy Njeri Mugwere DAP-K 311, Jane Muthoni (PDU ) 291 , , Dennis Leyian  CCK 245.

Members of County Assembly

In MCA positions only three MCAs retained their positions out of a total of 25. Some lost in nominations with others not vying, majority were defeated in the elections.

Those who retained their positions are Kaputiei North MCA Joshua Olowuasa (ODM), Kitengela MCA Paul Matuyia (ODM) and Entonet/Lenkisim MCA Paul Metui (UDA).

7. Kimana Ward- Kuya Nina.

8. Rombo Ward- Jackson Angaine.

9. Oloosirkon Sholinke Ward-Marush Stephen Kisemei

10. Nkaimurrunya Ward- Maina Mutiga.

11. Ong’ata Rongai Ward- Titus Matheka.

12. Entonet Lenkisim Ward- Paul Metui(Trump)

13. Imbirikani/Eselenkei Ward- Timothy Saigilu.
